If you’ve ever wanted to check a document in Turnitin but didn’t want to mess around with class IDs or enrollment keys, you’re not alone. Luckily, Turnitin has a feature called Quick Submit that makes it much easier. With Quick Submit, you can upload a paper directly, run it through Turnitin’s plagiarism checker, and get a report—without setting up a class or assignment.

Here’s how to turn it on and start using it.

Step 1: Log in as an Instructor

Quick Submit is only available for instructors, not students. If your account only shows student access, ask your school’s Turnitin administrator to switch your role.

Step 2: Turn on Quick Submit

  1. After logging in, click User Info at the top of the page.
  2. Look for “Activate Quick Submit.”
  3. Select Yes and then click Submit to save your settings.

Now, you’ll see a Quick Submit tab appear on your homepage.

Step 3: Upload a Paper

  1. Click the Quick Submit tab.
  2. Hit the Submit button to start a new submission.
  3. Choose what Turnitin should check your document against—web pages, student papers, or academic journals.
  4. Decide where to store the paper. If you don’t want future checks to flag it, choose No Repository.
  5. Upload your file (Word, PDF, text, or ZIP), add the author’s name and a title, and then click Confirm.

Step 4: Get Your Similarity Report

Once uploaded, your document will show up in the Quick Submit inbox. Refresh the page after a few minutes and you’ll see the Similarity Report—this is Turnitin’s check against other sources.

Why Use Quick Submit?

  • Fast – No need to create classes or assignments.
  • Flexible – Great for one-off checks, draft reviews, or staff documents.
  • Simple – Upload, submit, and get a report in just a few steps.

Do keep in mind: if you need features like grading, peer review, or student submissions, you’ll still want to use the regular class and assignment setup.

Final Thoughts

Turnitin’s Quick Submit is a huge time-saver when you just need to check a document quickly. By activating this feature, you can skip the hassle of class IDs and enrollment keys, and get straight to what matters—checking for originality.
